What is Pilates and why should I try it?

Pilates is a body conditioning form of exercise that helps to not only build flexibility, but improves strength, endurance, and coordination in the legs, abdominals, arms and back. It emphasizes the concepts of core strength and stabilization, and helps with balance while promoting overall fitness.

One of the best things about Pilates is that it works so well for people of all ages, shapes and sizes, and levels of fitness. If enhanced strength, balance, flexibility, and as Joseph Pilates would say, a “complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit” is what you’re looking for in a fitness program, Pilates is the ideal place to start.

What is the difference between Pilates or Yoga?

Although Pilates and Yoga are both considered to be a mind/body workout, Yoga has a much stronger spiritual foundation while Pilates is a core based training.

The Power Pilates method includes over 500 precise and controlled movements that strengthen and stretch muscles without adding bulk.

Can Pilates help in sports?

Yes, some sports (like golf and tennis) involve the use of only one side of the body and may cause imbalances.
